Promises.

When you think about it, what exactly is someone telling you when they give you a promise? I see it as not what they’re saying, but the things around that. Someone gives you a promise, which means they personally guarantee this certain thing. What about everything else? Why do you have to add a special kind of stamp to this one thing you say to strengthen the belief in it? Everything you say should in some way be a promise. Reason being, you said it. If you do something wrong and say you won’t do it again, that should be it. You shouldn’t have to put a promise on it to assure that you stick to it. The fact that it came out of your mouth should mean that you plan on upholding your word. A promise is just a word, and not even a strong word as far as I’m concerned. It doesn’t merit any special behavior or require any special action after. It’s just a word that can be used for any purpose, similar to any other word.

I guess I wanna say promises mean nothing to me…or maybe in a way, I just consider every serious word you say to me a form of promise.
